Cuideachadh
(English)
Seo
beagan treòrachadh dhut mar a nì thu rannsachadh nas mionaidiche na am
fear a nì am faclair leis fhèin bho thùs. Airson taic leis na
giorrachaidhean ann an Dwelly, faic an-seo.
À Ò Ù È Ì - Na stràcan còir
Cha leig thu leis stràcan a chleachdadh airson facal Gàidhlig a lorg.
Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu a-steach "tur" gheibh thu an dà chuid
"tur" agus "tùr". Bidh barrachd thoraidhean agad leis sin uaireannan
ach bidh thu a' sàbhaladh ùine leis a’ ghleus seo san fharsaingeachd
bhon a tha trioblaid aig mòran daoine leis na stràcan air meur-chlàr na
Beurla.
Facal is abairt
'S urrainn dhut dìreach aon fhacal a lorg san fhaclair. Ach 's urrainn
dhut abairt a lorg cuideachd. Ma chuireas tu dà fhacal (no barrachd)
ann, lorgaidh am faclair gach clàr anns a bheil an dà dhiubh taobh ri
taobh. Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu "put" ann, gheibh thu toraidhean
mar "put, put down, put up, put in, put over..." ach ma chuireas tu
"put up" ann, chan fhaigh thu ach na clàran anns a bheil an dà fhacal
a' nochdadh taobh ri taobh.
Toraidhean air an aon duilleag
Faodaidh thu taghadh co mheud toraidhean a tha thu airson faicinn air
an aon duilleag - 10, 25, 50 no
100.
● san fhaclair air fad
Seo an roghainn thùsail. 'S ciall dha seo gun dèid am facal a tha a
dhìth ort a lorg an dà chuid san cholbh Ghàidhlig agus san cholbh
Bheurla. Tha seo a’ sàbhaladh ùine dhut bhon nach eil torr fhaclan ann
a tha co-ionnan san dà chànan.
● Beurla gu Gàidhlig
Ma thaghas tu an roghainn seo, thèid am facal agad a lorg san cholbh
Bheurla a-mhàin. Nì thu seo ma gheibh thu cus thoraidhean le facal aig
a bheil an aon litreachadh san dà chànan, mar eisimpleir "till".
● Gàidhlig gu Beurla
Ma thaghas tu an roghainn seo, thèid am facal agad a lorg san cholbh
Ghàidhlig a-mhàin (coltach ris an roghainn roimhe).
● Facal slàn
Seo an roghainn thùsail. 'S ciall dha seo gun dèid am facal slàn a
lorg. Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu a-steach "dogfish" thèid am facal
gu lèir a lorg. Faic cuideachd an ath mhìneachadh.
● Pàirt de dh’fhacal
Ma thaghas tu seo, gheibh thu a h-uile facal anns a bheil na litrichean
a chuir thu ann a' nochdadh. Tha seo feumail mur eil thu buileach
cinnteach mar a sgrìobhar am facal no ma tha thu a' lorg faclan a tha
co-cheangailte ris a chèile. Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu a-steach
"dict" gheibh thu "dictionary, contradict, vindictive, preditcting..."
anns na toraidhean.
'S urrainn dhut rud eile a dhèanamh leis an roghainn seo. Ma thaghas tu Pàirt de dh'fhacal agus ma chuireas tu % eadar an dà fhacal, gheibh thu clàir anns a bheil an dà fhacal a' nochdadh ach can ann ri taobh a chèile. Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu ann degree%cold, gheibh thu fuachdas-làmh(AH) sm The degree in which one's hands are susceptible to cold.
● Litreachadh mionaideach
Seo an roghainn thùsail. 'S ciall dha seo gun dèid facal a lorg a tha
air a litreachadh dìreach mar a chuir thu ann e. Faic cuideachd an ath
mhìneachadh.
● Faclan coltach ris
Ma thaghas tu seo, gheibh thu faclan a tha car coltach ris an fhear a
chuir thu a-steach. Mar eisimpleir, ma chuireas tu a-steach "leabhar"
leis an roghainn seo, gheibh thu faclan mar "labhar, lìobhar, labhras,
leabhar...". Tha seo feumail mur eil thu buileach cinnteach mar a
litrichear am facal.
● Cuir an òrdugh a-rèir buinteanais
Seo an roghainn thùsail. Tha algairim san fhaclair a tha a' feuchainn
ris na faclan as fhearr a thoirt dhut.
● Cuir an òrdugh a-rèir na h-aibidil
Ma thaghas tu seo, gheibh thu na toraidhean ann an òrdugh aibidileach.
Here's some help to enable you to make more specific searches than the dictionary makes automatically. For help with the abbreviations in Dwelly, see here.
À
Ò Ù È Ì - The Graves
You don't have to use the accents to look for a Gaelic word. For
example, if you enter "tur" you will get both "tur" and "tùr".
Sometimes you will end up with more results that way but on the whole
you will save time this way since many people have difficulties
entering the accented vowels on an English keyboard.
Words and phrases
You can enter a single search term but you can also look for a phrase.
If you enter two words (or more), the dictionary will look for every
entry where both words appear next to each other. For example, if you
enter "put", you will get results such as "put, put down, put up, put
in, put over..." but if you enter "put up", you will only get the
entries where both words appear side by side.
Results per page
You can choose how many results per page you want to see - 10, 25, 50
or
100.
● Universal (throughout the dictionary)
This is the default setting. This means that the word you're looking
for will be searched for both in the Gaelic and the English section.
This saves you time since there are not many words that share the same
spelling in both languages.
●
English to Gaelic
If you select this option, your search term will only be looked for in
the English section. Use this option if you get too many results with
words which share the same spelling in both languages, such as "till".
●
Gaelic to English
If you choose this option (similar to the previous option) your word
will only be searched for in the Gaelic section.
● Whole word
This is the default setting. This means that the entire word will be
searched for. For example, if you enter "dogfish", then full word will
be searched for. See also the next entry.
●
Part of a word
If you choose this, you will get every word in which the letters you
entered appear. This is useful if you're not entirely sure how to spell
the word or if you're looking for related words. For example, if you
enter "dict", you will get "dictionary, contradict, vindictive,
preditcting..." in the results.
There's something else you can do using this option. If you put % between your search terms, then you will get entries where both words appear but not side by side. For example, if you enter degree%cold, you will get the entry fuachdas-làmh(AH) sm The degree in which one's hands are susceptible to cold.
●
Exact spelling
This is the default setting. This means that the dictionary will look
for the word spelled exactly as you entered it. See also the next entry.
●
Similar words
If you choose this option, you will get words that are somewhat similar
to the one you entered. For example, if you enter "leabhar" under this
option, you will get words like "labhar, lìobhar, labhras, leabhar...".
This is usefuly if you're not entirely sure how to spell a word.
●
Sort according to relevance
This is the default setting. There is an algorithm in the dictionary
that tries to find the most relevant results for you.
●
Sort alphabetically
If you choose this option, you will get your results in alphabetical
order.
